Title sequence for "The Kennedys" documentary series, 2018.
In the summer of 2017, Jellyfish's Creative Director Tom Brass came with news of a follow-up to Race for the White House. This new CNN six-part documentary series would chronicle the lives of America's most luminous, prominent and ultimately ill-fated political family.
The client felt that the titles should feel stylistically complementary to the piece I directed, designed and animated for White House, while having a character of its own. And we wanted to evoke the zeitgeist and socio-political climate for the series. Inspired by the striking colours, motifs and bold attitude of influential artists from the era - Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Willem de Kooning - I developed a bright and bold art style through which key moments and movements of the era as well as family characters and psyches could be expressed with a graphic, painterly feel.
